Practice Week of 7/6

Lake County RFC successfully concluded its first week of limited contact practice. We are scheduled for practice Tuesday, July 7th and Thursday, July 9th at 7 PM. Practice will be held at Hutchins Athletic Field, 36753 N. Hutchins Rd. in Gurnee. While we're on the right path towards matches, we as a team are still taking great precautions for all participants. The team takes temperatures as well as doing a routine wellness check of each player before practice, as outlined by the USA Rugby's Return to Play guidelines.

The health and safety of our players, coaches, and fans alike are of the upmost importance to us. In order to participate at practice, players must complete World Rugby's Player Welfare Awareness Course. Players who do not complete the course will not be able to participate in team activities. We're also continuing to work with CARFU as well as USA Rugby in order to keep up with the latest on developments in regards to matches, practices, and all other aspects affected by the COVID situation.

Practice Week and Phase 4 of USA Rugby's Return To Play

Lake County RFC successfully concluded its first week of practice. We were happy to see so many new and old faces, as we're slowly returning to the game. This week, Chicago Area Rugby Football Union has announced that we have been cleared for limited contact practice, as outlined in USA Rugby's Return to Play guidelines. We are scheduled for practice Tuesday, June 30th and Thursday, July 2nd at 7 PM. Practice will be held at Hutchins Athletic Field, 36753 N. Hutchins Rd. in Gurnee.

COVID-19 Update: Practice Restart Finalized

On behalf of the Lake County Rugby Club, all of our players, coaches, and fans, I'd like to thank everyone who have been patient with us these last few months. We hope you've been staying safe in these trying times. We're happy to announce that Chicago Area Rugby Football Union has given us the green light to restart practices! Our first week of practice begins this week. Practices will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 9 PM. Our first session is on June 23rd. Due to the state of Illinois' current restrictions, we will be holding non-contact practices until further notice.

COVID-19 Update

Due to the COVID-19 situation, Lake County RFC will cease its operations for the next 30 days. Per Chicago Area Rugby Football Union (CARFU), all rugby activities - including but not limited to practices and games - have been suspended. We will continue to update you as needed.

First Outdoor Practice Spring 2020

With our first tournament of the Spring season coming up this weekend, Lake County RFC is set to begin outdoor practices. Starting this Tuesday March 10th, all rugby practices will be held on Tuesdays and Thursday from 7 to 9 PM. Practices will be held at our home pitch, Hutchins Athletic Field (36753 N. Hutchins Rd).

Please note that Hutchins Rd will be closed going north of Grand Ave throughout the entire Spring season. The only way to get to our pitch is to take Stearns School Rd. from the north end. Take a look at the map below for more information. We apologize for the inconvenience.

We begin our season this Saturday March 14th in Chicago. Join us as we participate in the annual Whiskey 10s Tournament, hosted by South Side Irish. The tournament will be held at Dan Ryan Woods. Game schedule is still to be determined, but be sure to 'Like' us on Facebook for updates.

We've reached the final week of practice at Carmel Catholic High School before returning to our home pitch (1 Carmel Pkwy in Mundelein). The team will meet on Tuesday and Thursday. Times for each day will be confirmed on our Facebook page. Because the practices will be indoors, we ask players to bring running shoes, shorts, water, etc. Do not bring cleats! The practice schedule for this week is the following:

Lake County RFC will begin practices on Feb 18th at Carmel Catholic High School. The team will meet twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday from 7-9 PM or 7:30-9:30 PM. Times will be confirmed on our Facebook page. We ask players to bring cleats, running shoes, shorts, water, etc. Please bring extra layers as we will be going outdoors on the turf field. First week of practice is as follows:

For the Spring 2020 season, we're running another apparel campaign courtesy of Custom Ink. Take a look at our campaign here and order your team gear. We're selling t-shirts, hoodies, and long sleeves for the upcoming season. More importantly, a portion of all purchases and all donations will be returned to the club. It's a great way to show off your Lake County pride, as well as helping contribute to the growth of our team. Orders are due this Friday!

Winter Social And Team Scheduling

We hope all of our fans and players have enjoyed their holiday break and here's to a great 2020! After a long hiatus, Lake County RFC is preparing for the upcoming Spring season. We're kicking off the New Year with a winter social on January 11th from 5-8 PM. The social will be held at Tighthead Brewing Company in Mundelein.

Whether you're a current and/or former player of Lake County, or someone who's looking to try rugby, we welcome you all to join us! Check out our Facebook event for more information. Food and beverages will be served, along with board elections and team awards. For old boys and prospective players, we ask you to bring a $20 cover for the night. The money will go towards team dues should you join the team.
