Fall Practices Are Here

Just a reminder that Fall season is here and our first match is coming up in 3 weeks! Our first match will be away to Rockford Ravens on August 17th. Check out the Schedule page for more information. We will hold practice this Tuesday the 30th, and Thursday, August 1st. Both sessions will run from 7-9 PM. Practice will be held at Hutchins Athletic Field. Please make sure to bring boots (rugby/football/soccer cleats without a toe spike, mouth guard, water). Send us an email if you'd be interested in joining our team! Fall 2019 Season Is Here

Fall 2019 season will begin this week! Our schedule has been finalized. Check out the Schedule page for more information. One Week Until Fall Practices Begin!

We're just a week away from kicking off our Fall season! Our first official practice will be held on July 23rd. More information regarding practice and game schedules will come in the near future. Fall 2019 Season Is Coming Up!

Now that summer 7s season concluded, it's time to focus on the upcoming Fall season! While we have not received a word regarding our schedule, it's never too late to think about conditioning for the 15s season. Our first official Fall practice will be held on July 23rd. Harborfest 7s Summary and Lake County RFC @ Lakefront 7s - June 29th

This past weekend, Lake County RFC competed at Harborfest 7s, hosted by the Kenosha Mammoths. In pool play, we defeated the hosting Mammoths and Milwaukee Barbarians B-side, scoring over 70 points total. By topping our pool, we were set for a semifinal match against Wisconsin RFC. Hoping to avenge our defeat against the side in Forest City 7s a week before, Lake County jumped to a 21 point lead at halftime, and never looked back.

In the final, we were pitted against a tough Milwaukee Barbarians A-side. Lake County scored a quick try two minutes in, but the Barbarians fought back to take a 5 point lead into halftime. In the second half, we were unable to stay disciplined on defense, missing key tackles that led to Barbarians tries. In the end, it was a tough loss for us, but a great learning experience. We're hoping to build upon the second place finish in Kenosha, as we head to Milwaukee this weekend to compete at Lakefront 7s. The tournament will take place at Veterans Park.

To prepare for Lakefront, practice will be held Tuesday the 25th and Thursday the 27th from 7-8:30 PM. Our practice location is Hutchins Athletic Field in Gurnee. Forest City 7s Summary and Lake County RFC @ Harborfest 7s - June 22nd

Lake County RFC competed at Forest City Sevens, hosted by Rockford Ravens Rugby. The pool consisted of Wisconsin Rugby Club and the Chicago Blaze. After a tough 14-15 loss in the first game against Wisconsin, we bounced back against the Blaze with a 26-17 win. Based on seeding, LC took the fourth semifinal spot, and faced the top-ranked Fox Valley Maori.

In the semifinal, LC led by a single try at halftime. However, an early yellow card in the second half proved to be too much, as Fox Valley scores three quick tries and never looked back. The final match of the day pitted us against the Chicago Rugby Club for 3rd place. Lake County jumped out to a quick lead early on, but CRC pushed back and competed until the end. The defense tightened up and we held for a 3rd place win!

We have another week of practice to tune up for our next tournament, Harborfest 7s in Kenosha. Practice will be held Tuesday the 18th and Thursday the 20th from 7-8:30 PM. Our practice location is

Shipwreck 7s Summary and Lake County RFC @ Rockford - June 15th

On Saturday June 8th, Lake County RFC competed at Chicago Sirens Shipwreck 7s. We topped pool D by defeating the Fat Bois and the Chicago Silverbacks, scoring 57 points in those games. In the quarterfinals, we unfortunately ran into a formidable Chicago Blaze side, scoring only one try in a loss. Good to get the first tournament under our belt.

This week, we turn our attention to Rockford where Lake County RFC will be competing at Forest City 7s. The tournament will be held at Mercyhealth Sportscore Two. The address is 8800 East Riverside Boulevard in Loves Park. We hope to see our great supporters there!
